Rehabilitative Physical Therapy
Physical Rehabilitation Therapy at Beach Pain Center provide patients with specialized rehabilitation at a level that ensures a positive successful outcome. Perhaps you’ve attempted physical therapy in the past and failed to get the results you were promised? Things are different here. We concentrate our efforts on pain-free exercises performed specifically so that the injury is not further irritated.
Our doctors and therapist teach patients effective strengthening and stabilization of the upper torso to meet individual tolerance levels. In conjunction with programs we initiate at Beach Pain Center, we suggest a regimen of regular exercise to help reduce chronic pain. As our patients become proficient in the programs we provide, there should be an increased comfort during daily activities.
Additionally, some patients benefit from our interventional pain management therapy provide by Dr. Eames. After receiving interventional pain injections, our Physical Rehabilitation Therapy program in conjunction with chiropractic manipulation is designed to complement interventional pain procedures and is directed toward promoting the most long-term relief possible from medical interventions.
Treatment Programs Made Just for You

- Pelvic floor manual and exercise therapies
- Fibromyalgia therapy
- Acute orthopedic rehabilitation
- Functional capacity evaluations
CMT procedures or Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy technique is applied by the doctor to fixated facet joints/ articulations by utilizing low force, high velocity technique. This will help increase the range of pain free motion, minimize deconditioning, to increase flexibility to each spinal joint and to restore the loss of biomechanical curves changed from the intrinsic muscles of the spine. Dr. Noorani uses several types of adjustment techniques including manual (diversified) technique, Activator, Thompson Drop Table technique, and Flexion Distraction technique.
Flexion-Distraction is a form of traction adjustment that stops pain, realigns the spine and restores ranges of motion inherent to the spine. This technique is one of the most effective treatment available for sciatica and lumbar disc injuries and is even safe in treating patients with failed back surgery.
Mobilization/Manual Therapy can be helpful for the treatment of joints that lack adequate mobility and range of motion in certain musculo-skeletal conditions. This limitation can cause discomfort, pain and an alteration in function, posture, and movement. Manual therapy involves restoring mobility to stiff joints and reducing muscle tension in order to return the patient to more natural movement without pain. It is provided by the doctor to areas of the musculature to assist in increasing the overall range of motion of the joint and to break up deeper tissues adhesions causing limitations thereof and producing chronic myofascial pain syndromes. The practitioners uses his or her hands to put pressure on muscle tissue and manipulate joints in an attempt to decrease back pain, neck pain and extremity joint pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension, and joint dysfunction. Mobilization which uses measured movements of varying speed (slow to fat), force (gentle to forceful), and distances (called ‘amplitued”) to twist, pull, or push bones and joints into position. This can help loosen tight tissues around a joint, reduce pain in a joint and surrounding tissue, and help flexibility and alignment.
This is a form of soft tissue therapy that provides pain relief and increases range of motion. It combines stretching with applied pressure into areas of soreness, most commonly the muscle or tendon. This allows the underlying fascia (connective tissue) to reorganize into a more flexible, functional fashion.
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) or active assisted stretching is an effective way of using reflexes to assist muscular relaxation. Stretching using the PNF principles is to help muscular strengthening, stability, neuromuscular control, as well as mobility and coordination. This has been shown to be superior to static stretching.
All patients are taught a series of stretches that are specific to his or her condition and are asked to follow the doctor’s instructions. These will help reduce pain and tightness and will provide a longer lasting effect to your office treatments.
Therapeutic activities are a series of dynamic exercises that attempt to improve function. This includes the use of multiple parameters such as balance, strength and coordination. Protocol consists of reps and sets with averages of 12-15 per set and up to 3-5 sets per exercise. Each patient is instructed and trained to perform therapeutic exercises. These exercises will help relieve pain, reduce stiffness, increase flexibility while simultaneously increase muscle stability and strengthening weak muscles, which are often the cause for injuries in the first place.
Kinesiology tape is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for decrease in inflammation of the affected areas. Kinesio tape can help speed recovery of overused muscles, structural support for weak or injured area and enhanced strength and muscle tone. Kinesiology tapping has comprehensive array of therapeutic benefits, because it can be left on the injured are for up to 3-5 days and benefits are available to the injured area 24 hours a day, significantly accelerating the healing process from trauma, injury, inflammatory conditions.
Power Plate Device
Acceleration Training with Power Plate machines creates instability in the human body and to stimulate the body’s natural response to vibration. As with each vibration the body is forced to perform reflexive muscle actions, activating muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second. Furthermore, these contractions must work in multiple dimensions as the Power Plate machines actually oscillate in all three planes, exactly as the human body is designed to do. The net result is an incredible improvement in outcomes: such as increased muscle strength and flexibility, improved range of motion, decreased cellulite, increased bone mineral density, reduced pain and soreness and faster recovery.
The Intersegmental Traction is a table which has a system of rollers that rise up through a hole in the center of the table. When the patient lies on their back, the rollers gently roll up and down their spine. The action on the spine helps to elongate the anterior longitudinal ligament of the spine, providing increased mobilization and more flexibility to each spinal joint. This action also helps to reduce adhesions in the spinal joints, thus decreasing stiffness of arthritis.
Instructions, Guidance & Home Exercise Program
The doctor will provide individualized advice, guidance and home exercise program on things you can do to help with your condition and assist with healing. Home exercise program will help improve patient’s overall functional capacity and allow them to participate in an active form of treatment instead of passive. Under most nationally recognized guidelines, active home exercise program is recommended and proven to be most effective. The goal of home exercise program will allow the patient to get into condition and to learn how to maintain pain-free and optimal function over the long term. This may also include applying ice at home, recommending periodic breaks at work, or even suggesting a bracing of individual areas.
Short Term Goals
- To reduce pain level to less on a consistent bases over the affected areas
- To improve soft tissue flexibility of the muscles to be minimally limited, reduce functional restrictions and facilitate the gross motor function
- Have patient be independent with all pertained home exercise program, self care techniques and preventative procedures
Long Term Goals
- To return the patient to as close to pre-injury status and diminish potential de-condtitioning of injured tissue to prevent chronic pain syndrome(s).
- Stabilize range of motion and ligament instability through a controlled functional recovery program.
