Knee Pain
Knee pain is one of the most common issues that we see at Atlas Medical Center. Our providers have extensive experience in relieving chronic knee pain using non-surgical restorative, reparative and healing therapies.

Do you suffer from pain due to any of the following knee conditions?
- Knee Degeneration / Arthritis / Bone on Bone
- Meniscus Tear
- ACL or PCL Injury
- Chondromalacia
Our Approach
We know that our patients want long lasting relief and they want to be able stay active and not be sidelined, and that’s exactly what we strive to do. As such Atlas Medical Center is primarily focused on minimally invasive alternative procedures that can potentially improve your symptoms and help facilitate repair to the damaged structure in your knee without a lengthy recovery. Atlas’ unique program takes the best components from all current non-invasive therapy options and puts them into one. Our medical team’s approach is to use PRP, bone marrow derived stem cell therapy, and/or other restorative therapies to help accomplish these goals. In addition, we always use ultrasound guidance for every knee injection so that the injectable is injected precisely into the area of the body to help establish an environment conducive to tissue healing and repair.
Knee Pain Arthritis / Bone on Bone
Degeneration can occur in any of the joints in the body, especially those that experience lots of wear and tear. The knees are used in so many daily motions, feeling pain with each movement is debilitating. Joint degeneration generally develops over time, but can suddenly worsen and become more severe and disabling. Cartilage or other soft tissues within the knee joint can begin to dehydrate, deteriorate, or become damaged from some type of injury. These tissues provide a protective cushion between the bones for smooth movement. Once these start to wear down, or degenerate, friction within the joint can lead to inflammation, swelling, bone spurs, and other painful symptoms. Atlas Medical Center is primarily focused on minimally invasive alternative procedures such as Advanced Laser Therapy, PRP, Bone marrow derived stem cell therapy, Hyaluronan Knee Therapy and other Physiotherapies. These therapies have the potential to help relieve knee joint pain and inflammation naturally, without the need for pain medications, steroids, or surgery. Over the years Atlas’ Program has helped many knee pain sufferers get out of pain, improve the quality of their life, and ultimately avoid or postpone knee replacement surgery.

I was nervous [about the procedure]. I thought there would be long needles and lots of pain with it, but there was NONE OF THAT.
The procedure was simple. Very easy. It was not painful and I had no after effects from it. The same day that I had the procedure done I was already feeling at least 50% better, and I could walk close to normal right after the procedure.” — J.P

I can now walk normal. I can play with the grandkids. I can take the dog for a walk with no pain. My wife is happy because I can go grocery shopping with her. It’s made a huge difference.

Knee Pain due to Meniscus Tears
The meniscus is located in the knee joint. It is a rubbery piece of cartilage that acts as the body’s shock absorber and also acts as a pad to stabilize and protect the knee. There are three degrees of meniscus tears: severe, moderate and minor. In general, a severe meniscus tear is when bits of ruptured meniscus enter the knee joint and affect the function of the knee causing unbearable pain. For example, if a piece of meniscus tissue gets lodged in the joint, not only will it cause pain, but it also prevents movement in the knee. This is considered a ‘mechanical’ problem and oftentimes DOES require surgery to remove the meniscus fragment from the joint space. However, if the meniscus tear is not causing a ‘mechanical problem’, then the tear can oftentimes be treated conservatively.
On the other hand, with minor and moderate meniscus tears, the pain can be severe OR there may be NO pain associated with the tear. In fact, most people over the age of sixty have a meniscus tear in their knee and don’t even realize it’s there. When meniscus tears do cause pain, they can prevent you from twisting, sleeping comfortably, and performing and enjoying simple, normal everyday activities. It is important to note that these types of tears oftentimes do NOT need surgery. And many that do choose arthroscopic knee surgery unfortunately have to deal with the long-term implications of removing or cleaning out the meniscus. Others diagnosed with meniscus tears will try physical therapy, rooster comb injections, cortisone injections and pain medications oftentimes with only temporary results. If you have pain from a meniscus tear it is important that you evaluate all of your options- including non-surgical options -such as PRP, bone marrow derived cell therapy, and advanced laser therapy.

ACL or PCL Injury
The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are both major ligaments providing strength and stability within the knee joint. Ligaments are thick bands of tissue that connect bones. Injuries to these connective tissues are painful, debilitating, and have historically been a challenge to treat and heal. In the past, these kinds of injuries could cause what was considered permanent damage to the knee joints. Traditionally, the most common treatment for torn ligaments in the knee is arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction. Some recent studies have shown that years after these types of surgeries, the knee joint is actually worse.
Atlas’ Program uses procedures like Bone marrow derived cell therapy, Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, Advanced Cold Laser Therapy, and Physiotherapy to offer non-surgical options for those suffering from knee pain due to knee injuries and damage to soft tissues in the joints.
Knee Pain from Chondromalacia
Also known as “runner’s knee,” chondromalacia is inflammation of the underside of the kneecap and deterioration of the cartilage that supports it. When this cartilage is damaged or wears down, it becomes difficult to bend and straighten out the leg. This condition is common among young athletes, but may also be present in older individuals with arthritis of the knee. For those suffering with pain from chondromalacia patella Atlas’ Program offers a natural alternative to pain medications, steroid injections, and surgery. With the help of regenerative therapies, our medical providers are able to target the underside of the knee cap to help reduce inflammation and help enhance the body’s own natural healing ability to relieve chondromalacia patella.

Atlas’ Program: Non-Surgical Regenerative Therapy for Knee Pain Relief
Since 2001, at Atlas Medical Center, we have been helping patients get relief from knee pain even after other conventional treatments such as medications, cortisone injections, physical therapy and surgery have failed. Atlas’ Program is customized depending on your age, health, diagnosis, and the severity of your condition. The program may include one or more of the following procedures: Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, Bone marrow derived stem cell therapy, Joint Fluid Knee Therapy, Advanced Cold Laser Therapy, and Physiotherapy. The integration of procedures allows us to help accelerate the healing process by enhancing the body’s ability to heal, repair and regenerate naturally. Our goal is to relieve pain, inflammation, and improve mobility and function to the injured area. Unlike therapies that simply just mask the pain and are temporary; regenerative therapies have the potential to have more sustainable results.
